GRANGER, Ind. (AP) — Indiana Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski’s funeral will be held next week in her home state of Indiana, where she and three others were killed in a head-on highway crash. .
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Granger Community Church, Palmer Funeral Homes said on your website. A wake will be held at the church on Wednesday from noon to 7 p.m.
Walorski, 58, was traveling in a van with two members of his staff on Wednesday. when he crossed the median off a northern Indiana highway for unknown reasons and collided with an oncoming vehicle near the town of Wakarusa, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said.
Walorski, his 27-year-old employee Zachery Potts of Mishawaka, who was driving, and his 28-year-old communications director, Emma Thomson of Washington, DC, were killed, as was the woman driving the vehicle hit by their SUV.
Potts was a Walorski District Director and Republican Chairman of St. Joseph County in northern Indiana.
Walorski, 58, was first elected to represent Northern Indiana’s 2nd congressional district in 2012 and was seeking re-election this year to a sixth term in the solidly Republican district. Walorski was among House Republicans who voted against certifying Arizona and Pennsylvania’s electoral votes for President Joe Biden following the Capitol insurrection.
